Originally released in 1991 and now thankfully re-released by Vic Records is the ‘Exit: Reality’ full-length by Belgian Thrashers Asphyxia.

More than 30 years after its release we’re treated to a well-deserved re-issue. Asphyxia was Thrash Metal from Verviers, Belgium formed in 1987 and they released 3 demos and one full-length, it was also the first band from Christian Olde Wolbers (ex-Fear Factory).

On their debut Asphyxia dish out the very best of Thrash Metal, influences from Testament, Dark Angel, Sacred Reich, old Megadeth and the likes are audible; the music is quite dynamic and very technical and the riffs are all over the place. It’s 1990s Thrash Metal: a generally straightforward assault.

Asphyxia may not have invented the genre, the album stands nonetheless solid. In all: a true gem of nostalgia when Thrash Metal was at its finest. Fans of old school Thrash Metal should really check out this album.
