I was eagerly awaiting a new record by this German occult Black Metal entity, which I consider amongst the best bands in the genre right now (go and check them live). The first album “Disciples of the Void“ was a strong debut showing a band that combines modern Black Metal with the old spirit, always forward-thinking and with its own identity. The followed EP „Tombs Opened by Fervent Tongues… Earth’s Final Necropolis“ immortalized their status and went even beyond in songwriting and visiual arts.
The now discussed 2nd album “Vast Vortex Litanies“ is a step further into a dark atmospheric sphere that fills the void with dynamics going from hyperspeed tremolo chord picking to single note Doom laden heart tearing riffs, all filled with a more melodic approach, complex in its progressive nature of song structures yet catchy when necessary.
This is truly a highlight for 2019, a Black Metal statement. Sulphur reign, the fire is burning more than ever. Perfect mix at Necromorbus Studios and killer artwork once again by David Glomba. Recommended! (DPF)
