A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Wingless are part of the huge Polish underground metal scene and ‘Nonconform’ is their fourth full-length album. This is the first time that I hear about this band so I was curious about their music. What you will discover in this record are nine tracks of classic old-school death/doom influences reminding very much of the first (and the last) Paradise Lost albums. The opening two tracks ‘Imperceptible’ and ‘Separated From All Life’ offer slow and crushing guitar riffs plus the roars of the vocalist Michal Loranc. ‘Contempt and Defiance’ has faster tempo, same can be said about ‘Constellations’ which starts on speed but then slows back to the usual for Wingless tempo. ‘Drowning In Sadness’ has clear My Dying Bride vibes due to the violin samples mixed with the guitar sound and for me this was the most impressive song in this album. In case old-school Death/Doom metal is your thing then you should give an ear to Wingless – they don’t offer anything new or unheard of but what they do they do it well and their efforts deserve attention!
