A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Ah, split albums. One of the best ways to get a little bit of a few bands all at once. Almost like a compilation but only more focused on two, three or four bands. But look at me, explaining this shit to you, the people who actually understand the value of splits as well. But I digress. Before us here we have a split album from two Doom/Death Metal heavyweights with ‘Wretched Enigma Of Salvation’.

Starting things off we have Lexington, Kentucky in the United States’ own Rotting Kingdom coming in with two tracks of their signature misery and despair. Where they toe the line between the crushing grandiose nature of My Dying Bride and lush beauty of sadness akin to Yob. On odd but rather fitting marriage that creates unique Doom/Death that is familiar but completely new.

For the final two tracks of this four track split is the mighty Encoffination also from the United States but not Kentucky, Georgia and California respectively. And if you know of Encoffination then you know what to expect here. If not, I’ll try to fill you in. Imagine Father Befouled but slowed way down and you got Encoffination because literally that is what it is. Literally.

In conclusion what we get here is another four high quality Doom/Death Metal songs from two exceptional bands. Two bands slightly different in approach but still similar enough in style that this split has a flow to it and works well as a whole and not just a collection of two parts.
