A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Info

After 3 demos in the first half of the 1990s and a split with German melodic Death Metal combo Asgaia in 1997, Pleurisy from The Netherlands released their debut album “Experience the Sacrilege” in 1999. An album filled with Death/Thrash Metal and melodic riffs. Not very uncommon in those days as pure Old School Death Metal wasn’t the style that was ruling the world at that moment. Actually, there are quite some similarities with the good old Gothenburg scene when it comes to song arrangements. Just listen to a track like “Witchcraft”, which could be an A Canorous Quintet or In Thy Dreams track, only a bit stripped down. Pleurisy doesn’t go all the way, as it combines different styles, yet keeps riffs and melody as the core of their business. I have to admit I almost completely have forgotten this band from my home country, thanks towards VIC Records for clearing up my memory. It was a fun ride. (Ricardo)
