A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Last year, one of my favorite Black Metal releases was Switzerland’s Ungfell’s “Mythen, Maren, Pestilenz” LP. Previous to this album, they put out a demo and split in 2015 after forming in 2014. Following those releases, this album surfaced in 2017. Released independently, from what I can gather, and then seeing a tape version the same year on Graceless Records.

Now, Eisenwald Records is resurrecting this fiery beast of an album on both CD and LP formats, and I can say it’s well deserved as this two man band is quality on all levels. I must admit, when I first heard Ungfell a few years ago, I thought they were French. This particular album bares an uncanny resemblance to the French scene, most notably, Peste Noire, at least to these ears. That isn’t a bad thing in my book.

This album will satisfy anyone into top notch, riff based Black Metal with maniacal screams of utter fucking Hell! As expected, this is a bit more raw than the newest album from 2018, which gives it it’s own certain charm. There are plenty of melodies that will get stuck in your head for sure, so much so, you may poke you’re own eyes out from going crazy…it’s that infectious. Lots of great ideas and playing on this. This just came out so jump on your chance for a roller coaster of an album. (LOD666)
