A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Info

No, not the soundtrack from the movie ‘Meet Joe Black’, but the EP by this brutal band, which is now finally available in Europe.

It features 10 tracks: 3 “new” songs, 3 remixes, 1 cover, and 3 demo versions of songs also found on their albums. Let me start with the remixes: they’re quite decent, but are mainly suited for people who get off on Fear Factory’s ‘Remanufacture’. The cover of ‘Raining Blood’ was already on the ‘Slaytanic Slaughter II’ compilation. However, along with the three demo versions, this cover provides an impression of what Malevolent Creation sounded like with Brett Hoffman on vocals. The only criticism here is why only two of the three-song demo from 1990 were included on this CD.

What makes the CD worth buying, however, are the three “new” songs that don’t appear on any other CD. These are in the same style as ‘Eternal’, and thus provide an impression of what Malevolent Creation sounded like with Jason Blachowicz on vocals.

For those who consider Eternal to be MC’s best CD, the tracks ‘Joe Black’, ‘Self-Important Freak’, and ‘Sadistic Perversity’ will have you headbanging with whiplash-inducing joy! So, a mandatory purchase!
