A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Altar’s fourth album already. The first thing that strikes me, is that this one sounds more brutal and straight-ahead comparing to their previous two albums. Not (so) much of that technical play, but more in-your-face Metal. Thrash is the red line through this album but Death Metal isn’t forgotten at all!

Nice melodies combined with sheer brutality are the result in some songs of this album. Altar managed to write good songs, without giving in on aggression. The songs are well structured and quite varying from each other, as well as within a song. Threatening riffs can be altered by a sharp thrash-riff, and hyperblast drumming by a nice mid-pace or powerful double-bassing, and they also throw in some nice anti-christian lyrics, with a good dose of sarcasm. Last the album has got a powerful sound and contains nine tracks.

I think Altar made the right decision by choosing this path again. Good album!
