A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Ignominious Incarceration was formed a mere 2 years ago, but it didn’t take them all too long to sign a record deal with Earache Records. Recorded and produced by Scott Atkins (Gama Bomb, Sylosis), their debut ‘Of Winter Born’ is set to appear in stores.

The sound of Ignominious Incarceration can roughly be broken down to Death Metal, and contains a lot of the brutality and technical prowess that has become the standard for modern Death Metal. Rather than striving to take these elements into new extremes, there is also a heavy focus on melodies that borrow heavily from the patented Gothenburg style. With quite a bit of mid-paced action spread over the ten tracks, rhythmic groove also becomes a factor in the sound. Add a decent grunt, impressive musical skill and a solid recording sound, and one can only conclude that Ignominious Incarceration have come up with an interesting record that harbors a lot of the qualities that people value in modern Death Metal! In particular tracks like ‘Dynasty Damnation’, ‘Tide Of Pestilence’ and ‘In The Face Of Absolution’ stand out, but there aren’t any real misses on the album. I could have done with a few more tracks with the higher pace of ‘Avarice’, but that’s really just a minor complaint about an otherwise impressive debut! Although not necessarily for those looking for extremities, the music of Ignominious Incarceration is bound to appeal to fans that like their Death Metal modern!
