A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

After the drummer left to play with Cradle Of Filth and the vocalist also left to concentrate himself more on his other band, these two got replaced by, of course, a new drummer (ex-Invocator!) and a new vocalist (ex-Face Down), and after completing the new line-up The Haunted started recording the successor of their debut, and here it is…

People who liked their debut, will like ‘Made Me Do It’ as well! The album, containing eleven tracks, sounds more varied than their debut-album. I also think this album is somewhat more Thrashy and less Hardcore-orientated than ‘The Haunted’, with a Death Metal-edge and leans more towards At The Gates than its predecessor.

Progression can be found on this album as well, just listen to songs such as ‘Hollow Ground’ or ‘Under The Surface’. This quite guitar-orientated Thrash-album brings you a variety of songs, in which up-tempo battery is mainly the keyword concerning the speed-range. All songs sound powerful, but some contain more melody or more ‘tranquillity’, while others sound more aggressive or fast.

The music easily combines 80’s Thrash with the Thrash-sound of today without sounding outdated, too modern or forced. A lot of melody can be heard in the ending of ‘Hollow Ground’ or ‘The World Burns’ for example, while songs such as ‘Revelation’ or ‘Victim Iced’ just rage on relentlessly! Killer Thrash-riffs played at deadly precision together with good drumwork, a pumping bass and a vocalist that sounds very angry, but also shows he can do more with his voice than just voicing his frustration create good structured songs which are well arranged and they are warrant for some surprises at times. The songs are all very energetic, contain a healthy dose of catchiness and you just can’t sit still!

In conclusion, when you listen to this technical album you just want to hear it again when it’s finished! Yep, this is a very good follow-up to ‘The Haunted’ and I think it will even open more doors for this band. Buy it now!
