A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Info

It was about a year ago when I first heard from Hooded Menace through Razorback Records, one of the most important players in the market of filthy and stinky metal – Razorback Records is the bringer of those bands like Frightmare, Coffins, Engorged and Ghoul. Now, one the label’s most intense bands is definitely this Finnish zombie horror doom/grind act Hooded Menace. Prior the release of the bands’ full-length this 7” was released through Doomentia Records from the Czech Republic which already brought us a few quality releases on vinyl.

This 7” EP contains the same two songs that appeared on the demo from 2007, so in that respect, this EP doesn’t bring anything new under the sun, if you already own the demo (with amazing artwork by the way). This release, however, is housed in a great looking gatefold cover with great artwork including black-on-black prints. Musically this is basically a mix between very old Cathedral, Autopsy, Winter, Thergothon and Coffins. Indeed, a rather slow and dragging kind of doom/death attack that’s as much of a sludge record as it can be as well. Definitely one with a thundering production which hammers down pretty much of all those who try.

For collectors, this great 7” is available in maroon coloured vinyl, limited to 100 copies, and in black vinyl which is done in 400 copies only. And for those who are interested, Doomentia is also releasing a 7” EP from Acid Witch, which is also recommended for people who are into Hooded Menace.
