Death Worship – Reaping Majesty [EP]

death worship – reaping majesty [ep]

Info

Not including a demo and a promotional tape, this is EP number three from Canada’s Death Worship (which seems to be headquartered in Germany these days, by the way). Death Worship is the brainchild of Ryan Foster, known under the moniker “Deathlord of Abomination and War Apocalypse” as a noise producer in bands such as Blasphemy and Dominum Inferum and formerly Conqueror. Of course, the connoisseurs then already know what will be coming at them, but then again, for these lovers of the true finesse, Death Worship will not quite be a stranger…

Those same aficionados of the most depraved Black/Death Metal will not be disappointed, Death Worship offers exactly what you will buy and/or listen to this EP for. It overwhelms with a thunderous roar, where the chaotic mess consists of rapidly rattling drums, sawing riffs and barking vocals. ‘Reaping Majesty’ brings nothing new or surprising, but of course that is exactly the charm of this genre, of which the recognisability and predictability, let’s call it unoriginality, is exactly its strength. Yet within these six songs, which rush by at a furious pace in less than 25 minutes, there are some standouts to be named. Chief among them is ‘Mass Murder Majesty’, which brings to the surface an even more ferocious character of Foster’s, the razor-sharp and blazing guitar eruptions in this song are emblematic of how this genre is far from being extinguished.

It should be no surprise, of course, but still: fans of bands like Blasphemy, Abysmal Lord, Naked Whipper, Beherit, Black Witchery, Archgoat, Proclamation, Teitanblood or even early Impaled Nazarene can have their fun with this EP. And in good Nuclear War Now! Productions tradition, this 12″ EP is again brought to you in excellent quality.
