A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Burning Lord is a band from Boston, Massachusetts, USA and is founded by a bunch of Hardcore Punks. At least, that’s what I presume, as their Hardcore influences seep through each and every song on this second demo of theirs. But instead of pure Hardcore, Burning Lord is an evil Thrash Metal band incorporating a lot of old American Hardcore influences, but not only that…

On ‘Demo #2’ this five-piece does sound like a solid mix of good old Venom, Exumer and a band like a more metallic US Hardcore band like Uncle Slam. Even some Dead Kennedys seem to have slipped into their rather adventurous sort of sound. In particular, the somewhat snarling vocals are reminiscent of their Hardcore background, which might certainly displease some listeners who are attached to metal standards. However, should this not be an objection for you, you can definitely give Burning Lord a listen. The band definitely brings something new to the table and fits well with the trend in which the more extreme metal styles are mixing with Hardcore and Punk. Although not at all alike Burning Lord, bands like nowadays Integrity, Devil Master and Raspberry Bulbs can be placed in that category. Fans of bands like Midnight would certainly also do well to give this band a listen.
