A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

India’s label Transcending Obscurity starts 2016 with this excellent release from Affliction Gate from France. This is the band’s fourth release, following a couple of EPs and a full length, since their start, back in 2006. They don’t make any efforts to hide their inspirations and, on each of the four songs of this EP, you are transported to the best of what old-school death metal had to offer on the good old days, as if time travel was a reality. However, what I love most about this record is how they brilliantly chose to end it. “Manicheism Inertia” is one of those songs that, being so good, leave you desperate for more and wondering how much longer you’ll have to wait for their next release. Pure cruelty to the listener…So, 10 years after their beginning, Affliction Gate starts off 2016 by setting the music quality’s bar high, making it difficult for other bands to top this EP with over 17 minutes of pure old-school death metal for fans of Benediction, Unleashed and Bolt Thrower.
