Undergang back with new EP ‘De syv stadier af fordærv’: “The bands signature mix of neanderthalic drumming and stringy phlegm-like riffs is instantly recognisable to any Death Metal fan”

July 2, 2023

Danish Death Metal legends Undergang are showing no signs of slowing down, with a brand new EP ‘De syv stadier af fordærv’ featuring 7 pieces of ugly rotten death coming soon via Me Saco Un Ojo Records and Dark Descent Records.

The bands signature mix of neanderthalic drumming and stringy phlegm-like riffs is instantly recognisable to any Death Metal fan. Equally so is David’s signature vomit-snarled vocals, all of which immediately will grip you with the fist of festering decay from the earliest points. Although primal and disgusting as ever, Undergang have always had a penchant for including gloomy moments betwixt their rot churning disdain. This new material has plenty of those disgusting dynamics which throw a superb stench into the air with remorseless instrumental fury and equally unsavoury vocals, taking everything that made the Death Metal of old great and plunging it furiously into the carcass of today like a rusted knife designed to open seeping sores and spray pus forth upon all within the vicinity. The pulverising putrescence does not relent…

From the slowest drudges to the grinding fury and all sonic sadism in between, Undergang’s newest offering is a viciously unpleasant and transfixing opus of odours most foul. Woefully brutal, most puny headbangers will simply die from the sheer weight of this thing if they try to lift it onto their turntable. Any remaining will be flattened by the brutal gut-opening session that they will be subjected to 20 minutes of. Although all of their albums contain nothing short of true magnificent monstrosities from start to end, the amount of diversity in this miniature tome of auditory violations is impeccable even by Undergang’s high standard. If you find yourself presented with this cacophony of rot, then be sure not to miss the opportunity to drown in the swampy sludge before you, it’s thrilling! If you can make it through all seven stages of depravity, then you must congratulate your own hardiness, then find yourself drawn back for more torture! So all of the odious freaks out there, force-feed yourself this slab of sadism.

Profanatica returns with new album: “‘Crux Simplex’ is a ten-track offensive of sin and sacrilege…”

June 29, 2023

Blasphemous Black Metal legion Profanatica are back with a brand new album ‘Crux Simplex’! The new album will be out on 22 September, 2023 via Season of Mist Underground Activists.

‘Crux Simplex’ is a ten-track offensive of sin and sacrilege, a nasty affront that bastardizes the first 10 stations of the cross. As per their legacy, Profanatica deals in bestial, first-wave Black Metal barbarity, and their eighth album unveils ungodly levels of bile and blasphemy.

Ledney comments on the new offering: “‘Take up the Cross’ is the 2nd station of the cross. Jesus is forced by Roman’s to carry it, and it’s weight is that of 10,000 suns. As spikenard fills the air so does the very real scent of sweat and blood. This is the beginning of the days of stains and pain.”

New Vorgfang and Unholy Craft split release via Purity Through Fire: “Ice-cold and furiously raw, both Vorgfang and Unholy Craft deliver a swift masterclass in pure & proud Black Metal…”

June 27, 2023

Purity Through Fire is proud to present ‘Ulf’s Keptr’, a special split album between Vorgfang and Unholy Craft, on CD and vinyl LP formats.

Uniting two uprising forces in Norwegian Black Metal, Vorgfang and Unholy Craft together on ‘Ulf’s Keptr’ light ancient torches that once set fire to churches across Scandinavia. Featuring four exclusive songs from each horde, this 43-minute split is hateful disdain for Christianity put to music.

Truly, both bands are well matched here, sharing similarities yet also exuding their own personality: misanthropic winds harken from the classic of Nordic Black Metal past, but equally so do the spiteful winds of the early French and Polish scenes blow across ‘Ulf’s Keptr’.

Ice-cold and furiously raw, both Vorgfang and Unholy Craft deliver a swift masterclass in pure & proud Black Metal: a powerful pact indeed, and for only true believers.

Helter Skelter Productions to release Necrony compilation: “Thankfully, time has done nothing to dull the pus-filled power of Necrony’s body of work”

June 26, 2023

Helter Skelter Productions (distributed & marketed by Regain Records) is proud to present the entire discography of Necrony in a five-LP vinyl boxset, titled ‘Corrupted Crescendos’.

One of the most cult bands in an already-cult scene, Necrony hail from the mythical Swedish Death Metal scene of the early ’90s. Formed in 1990 in Örebro, during their four years together, Necrony left behind a small-but-scathing body of work that included an album, a mini-album, a 7″ EP, and two demos as well as a handful of unreleased rehearsals. The band also had the unique distinction of releasing three of those recordings on the super-cult Poserslaughter Records label. Necrony posthumously further earned their cult status with their connection to successive grindcore legends Nasum: vocalist/bassist/guitarist Anders Jakobson would play with the latter during the entirety of their career, while drummer Rikard Alriksson would play with them during their first three years of existence. Both men would also have distinct musical careers with the likes of Coldworker and Genocide Superstars, respectively.

Necrony would make their public debut with 1991’s eight-song ‘Severe Malignant Pustule’. As colorfully suggested by its title, the band’s first demo doubtlessly was indebted to Carcass – as were hundreds of bands back then, or arguably more! – but Necrony nevertheless had a clear grasp of twisted songwriting and uniquely relied on slimy downtempo segments instead of the usual ultra-grinding tropes of the time. They’d further perfect this sound later that year on the two-track ‘Mucu-Purulent Miscarriage’ EP, one of the very first records released by the aforementioned Poserslaughter.

Following those two recordings, guitarist Dan Wall would depart the band, and it wouldn’t be until 1993 when Necrony released their next recording. However, when they did, it was quite literally titanic: ‘Pathological Performances’, the band’s debut album. Pared down to a duo of Jakobson and Alriksson did little to hamper the band’s creativity, as ‘Pathological Performances’ saw Necrony hit their peak: the songwriting was supremely twisted yet somehow catchy, the recording was their clearest yet without losing their original crushing sliminess, and like their heroes Carcass, the lyrics were witty in their gore. Nevertheless, they’d release a promo tape the next year that featured two songs of even sharper and more crushing creativity, suggesting that Necrony were only getting started.

And so it seemed, as their next recording, ‘Necronycism: Distorting the Originals’ – recorded prior to the promo tape, but released after it – was a mini-album of covers which included the likes of Carcass (of course!), Napalm Death, Repulsion, Impetigo, Bolt Thrower, and Carnage, all done the Necrony way. Generally, such covers records served as a stopgap between album releases, and such was the hope for Necrony. But another studio recording never came, and the duo’s focus seemingly shifted to the then-young Nasum. Necrony, ultimately, was RIP by 1994.

Thankfully, time has done nothing to dull the pus-filled power of Necrony’s body of work – in fact, it sounds more powerful (and pus-filled!) than ever. While an unauthorized “collection” surfaced in 2005, with the band’s full approval does Helter Skelter hereby collect all those recordings plus bonus tracks from the covers record as well as unreleased rehearsal sessions and one live track. Titled ‘Corrupted Crescendos’, this nearly-three-hour boxset is the definitive word on one of Swedish Death Metal’s great “What Ifs” and a unique-yet-unsung entry into that hallowed canon. This boxset will include an extensive 24-page booklet, three stickers, and a patch, making it the ultimate Necrony statement: long live Necronycism!

Memento Mori added Putred to the rooster: “Putred’s Death Metal is rancid and foul-smelling, mostly mid-paced and heavy as fuck…”

June 23, 2023

In our endless quest to push and support current underground acts that perpetuate the odor of vintage Death Metal, we’re extremely thrilled to announce a new signing: Putred, from Romania.

Putred was formed by Uriel on guitars (Morbicus, Vorus, Reveler) and Filip on vocals / bass (Necrotum, Vorus, Demoted) in Transylvania, back in June 2020. Dante (Slaughter Ceremony, ex-In Obscurity Revealed, ex- Infested) joined the band behind the drumkit right after writing the first two songs, titled ‘Necroza’ and ‘Devorat de Viermi’. These tracks were self-released as a promo/demo tape in July 2020. In late 2021, Corina (ex-Deimos, Vorus, Reveler) joined the band as a bass player and Filip stuck to vocals only. In October 2022, Doru (ex-Necrovile, Vorus, Malpraxis) replaced Dante on drums, and the band immediately started playing live all over Romania.

Putred’s Death Metal is rancid and foul-smelling, mostly mid-paced and heavy as fuck, topped off with sick, guttural vocals and eerie solos, taking their cues from the likes of Death, Necrophagia, Slaughter, Deceased, Asphyx, Grave, Paradise Lost, Cianide, Derketa, Dr Shrinker/Phantasm, Rottrevore, Mortician, Carnage, Bolt Thrower, Apparition/Sorrow, Benediction and Broken Hope, among others, whereas the lyrics, written and sang in Romanian, are short horror-drenched stories about death, horror, the occult, the afterlife…

Memento Mori will unleash the CD version of their sophomore full-length by late 2024.
