‘Soul Chamber Harvest’ doesn’t really mess around. It gets going and you’re pretty much immediately hit with big, ugly riffs and those nasty low vocals. Really feels like Necrotum kept it straight forward and heavy on this album and it works.

I kept coming back to Grave while listening to this, especially ‘Into the Grave’. A lot of these riffs have that same kind of thick, dirty feel to them. They’re not overly complicated, but they have enough weight behind them that you really don’t need much else. Just good 90s Death Metal vibes that makes you want to keep your head moving.

The part I wasn’t expecting was some of the haunting vocals they sneak in here and there. They’re never a huge part of the songs, but I noticed them every time they showed up. Between those and the artwork, I kept thinking of Quan Chi from Mortal Kombat. There’s just something evil and haunting about it all. I actually really liked that little touch because it gives the album some personality outside of just being heavy.

And really, that’s about all I need from something like this. ‘Soul Chamber Harvest’ has nasty vocals, big riffs, a strong early Swedish Death Metal feel and a little bit of weird darkness thrown in for good measure. Nothing fancy. Just really solid, heavy Death Metal that I had a good time listening to.
