I can say what I want, but I cannot deny that Demonical is very active regarding their releases. After 7 full-lengths, several splits, and EPs, they felt it was time to document the whole damn thing with a collection of live recordings during their tour through Latin America.
Not entirely against expectations, you hear many songs from their later albums; nearly all the focus is on the records released through Agonia Records, aside from ‘All Will Perish’, from ‘Death Infernal’, and ‘The Order’, from ‘Darkness Unbound’. My critique of the later albums is mostly the clean production that smothers the grit an HM-2 pedal provides. The live versions, such as ‘Fallen Mountain’, are more bearable than the album versions, which Demonical hopefully notices and takes to the studio for their next recording. The contrast in material is also very clear: the Old School Swedish Death Metal versus the slightly more polite mid-tempo style Demonical uses on certain tracks from their later albums.
As you likely expect, I have no use for the tamer versions, but the rest ensures that I keep Demonical on my radar and will definitely check out their future work.
