A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Crawl return with a vengeance with their new sophomore album ‘Altar of Disgust’ and create a gritty and sheer buzzsaw rawness that rips and tears through your brain turning it into hamburger!

Carrying forth with the older Swedish Death Metal traditions in mind and armed with the very present HM-2 on full, the guitars resonate utter foulness while a hefty bass slithers underneath creating a sense of eeriness. Like in their previous albums, sometimes feedback flows freely whenever it chooses. In turn, the concerns of editing are not applied nor needed which brings you a true sound and feel of the recording and also adds to its overall crudeness.

The solid hammering of the drums holds nothing back either and gives it all, no matter the speed or with any time changes that occur or through any breakdown parts. In some newer developments, there are hints of a touch of Black Metal style riffing which can be heard in the songs ‘Into Sordid Rifts’ and in ‘Buried Lust.’ This in turn, brings out a new variation and adds another form of darkness to this brute of an album while still retaining their old school Death Metal style that Crawl are known for.

Other varying influences that are present are crust, which can be heard in their earlier releases too and currently with some hints of Black Metal here and there, Crawl have combined and created an absolute monster called ‘Altar of Disgust’. There is no doubt about it!

All I can say is crank this loud like it is meant to be heard! Crawl are back with a filthy, disgusting offering of vomit upon the altar!
