A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

This impressively talented group from Toronto, Canada left my jaw aching bad from how hard it hit the ground from the drop and for how long it spent there on the dirty, grimy ground. So much so that it made me coin a new term and subsequent acronym. D.D.M.F., Dumbfounded Death Metal Face. I’m pretty sure the people driving past me were wondering what the hell was going on with me as I passed by in my car, mouth agape, eyebrows raised, nodding along while listening to this outstanding compilation.

And yes, I did say that this is a complication. For ‘Assemblage of Disgust’ assembles two of their previous EP releases, ‘Towards Degradation’ and ‘Within Mental Ruins’, with one their singles, ‘Drain the Ichor’, sandwiched in between to form an extremely delicious Death Metal delicacy for all to enjoy.

This scrumptious compilation came out in 2021 but it is truly timeless in it’s sound and execution. Hell, it could have been released anytime from the he early 1990’s till now and it would still sound fresh and unique. The closest comparison would be the mighty Gorguts yet then again they really don’t sound like another Gorguts clone. But they are their own breed, their own toxin, their own Fumes.
