A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Info

Totengeflüster which translated in English means whisper of the dead, is a symphonic Black Metal band from Germany. Their debut album “Vom Seelensterben” (2013) made quite some waves as it got great reviews. Their follow-up “Im Nebel der Vergänglichkeit” wasn’t as well received but was still a solid album, in some cases even better than their debut in my opinion, and now we are here with their third output “The Faceless Divine”.

Their fans should feel right at home because Totengeflüster deliever nothing new. There is slightly an upgrade on production and mix. The overall atmosphere is tighter, as it should be when a band grows. The songs “On Carrion Wings”, “The Hollow Wandered (Cursed)” and “Grant Us Thy Blessing” are my favorites on this album. The rest of the songs doesn’t captivate me like this though they are solid symphonic Black Metal songs. When you are long enough in extreme metal there is not much room for plenty new ideas when it comes to symphonic Black Metal.

If you enjoyed Totengeflüster past albums then there is no reason you shouldn’t like “The Faceless Divine” too. Fans of Carach Angren, Cradle of Filth and Dimmu Borgir should give it a try. For diehard fans of the genre I’m sure some of you will even have this high up on the album of year list. (HaCeBo)
