A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Born in ’97 under the name Septic Breed and after the recording of two demo’s, a change of name and some slight line up-changes Century Media, quote, “simply couldn’t resist offering the band a contract”. The result of this is what I’m listening to right now.

I find the quote from before a bit exaggerated but what I’m hearing sounds pretty good. Death metal with a typical Swedish edge to it ranging from mid-tempo to high speed and also containing parts that remind of Darkane or The Haunted in a way and am I wrong to hear some At The Gates in the distance? Bands in this sort of style, or slightly different seem to be coming from Sweden a lot these days, don’t it?

The ferociousness in their music is combined with a melody that sounds strange and indefinable at times but give a great twist to the music and make it more of a joy to listen to. All songs are packed with tons of breaks, speed changes, lots of riffs and so on and this can make the tracks sound crowded and uncontrollable at times, but after listening a few times you’ll hear how these guys control their instruments. On this album you’ll find 10 tracks of which one functions as a sort of intro. The Forsaken isn’t thé most original band around, but certainly are above average of a lot of today’s bands.

A killer heavy production, done by Tommy Tägtgren, completes this debut that needs your attention. Check it out!
