First and foremost, I will say I’ve never heard such airy and clear Doom Metal…done right, at least. The music has resonance, and carries a soulful stride while maintaining a doom-y edge all along the way.

The Drowning as I said aren’t quite like anything I have ever heard, despite its very modern/prog sound, though perhaps me not delving too far into underground Doom has crippled my judgement there.

Nevertheless, the fourth track on the album, “In Cold Earth”, is a good representation of this album, the song trudging forth with an incredible riff of a truly bleak and oddly calming essence. This band is closest to My Dying Bride, if you like them, give these guys a try! (Caleb Gravestryker)
