Burial Hordes is a band from Athens,Greece and even though they exist since 2001, ‘Ruins’ is only their fourth full-length album. Inside you will discover eight tracks of absolutely smashing death/black/doom metal played by musicians experienced in the extreme metal music. The opening track ‘In the midst of a vast solitude’ crushes the senses of the listener with relentless blast beats, insanely fast guitar riffs and the deep and dark growls of the singer T.D., who is the former singer of the Greek Black Metal horde Ravencult, but in Burial Hordes his vocals are much more into the Death Metal field. Songs like ‘Isotropic Eradication’ and ‘Purgation’ follow the same pattern of merciless sonic aggression that hits you like a steam hammer. Besides the fast and heavy playing, the band also implements ominous melodic passages in their music, evident in ‘Perish’ and ‘Wandering stream of wind’. The end of this magnificent album comes with ‘…to the threshold of silence’ which is the slowest track here. Burial Hordes delivers a great mix of Incantation and Asphyx mixed with black metal guitar parts but they have their own sound and a great album production on top of that. ‘Ruins’ is a must-hear album if you are an extreme metal fan and besides that, the band has lots of merch to offer: t-shirts, hoodies and even shopping bags and coffee cups! Another remarkable release from the mighty Transcending Obscurity records!
