Sadistic Goatmessiah – Demo 2023 [Demo / Re-Release]

sadistic goatmessiah – demo 2023 [demo / re-release]

Info

As the title already suggests, this demo was actually the demo the band presented last year. That first version was recorded and released in October of 2023 and self-released by the band in 50 hand-numbered copies. But apparently, the demand was high enough to go for another run of tapes, this time the band chose to do it all slightly different. Not only did they choose for a cover in reversed colours, but the most significant change is that this version is only available at the band’s live shows or through “old school tape trading” and, consequently, this version is an unlimited one.

Musically, ‘Demo 2023’ continues on the regressive metal path set out by the band’s previous output. Just as these preceding demo’s and split releases, this is all more than a convincing piece of regressive metal that is more than obviously built upon the cornerstones of the classic bands from the mid to late 80’s.

It is quite literally a wild blend of all those bands that made the late 80’s such an exciting time for those into the genre. There is most obviously a thundering and buzz-sawing Hellhammer vibe throughout the full (almost) ten minutes of the demo. But besides that Hellhammer/Celtic Frost connection you can hear bands like Possessed, Venom, Mötorhead, Slaughter, Poison, Repulsion, Nunslaughter, Hallows Eve, Necrovore, Master and the likes. Because of the NWOBHM-melodies there is also an apparent resemblance with bands like Deströyer 666 and especially Desaster (listen to ‘The 7th Circle Of Hell’ for instance) which is further underscored by the loud and barking vocals. The simple song writing emphasizes the actual the great and powerful riffs that do make the tracks earwormingly memorable.

An extra addition to the authentic feel of the demo is the sound, or production, if you will. Apparently, this demo was recorded live in the band’s rehearsal space, giving the music a more than genuine 80’s feeling, but, at the same time, it sounds remarkably good.

Those who are interested in getting these two new tracks, that supposedly will be part of the band’s debut album, and a Slaughter cover should get their tapes out and contact the band to set up a nice trade “like it’s 1989”!
