A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Info

2025 has barely started and Lord Warmoon, also featuring in Devil Moon and Kirous and formerly of Morgal, already has two full-length releases under his belt. The first of the two is ‘Cutting Through’, the sophomore album by his solo band Mutant Sex Demon which follows the debut ‘Filth Messiah’, released less than a year ago.

Heavy, straightforward and catchy as hell, there are many obvious parallels with the delicious work of Devil Moon. Comparing the two, Mutant Sex Demon has a more 80’s and Punk vibe to it all (spoiler: in Sigon we find Lord Warmoon’s fascination for Speed Metal more represented). After the short horror intro of the album passes, we are presented with ‘Filth Metal Warriors’, a thick and bass heavy song that quickly twists into a rocking hybrid of Heavy Metal, Punk and Black Metal. Pulsating in its midtempo, contagious in its simplicity and with a delightful solo to top it all off, the song leaves a very clear and strong impression. The raspy vocals of Lord Warmoon, who operates here as Mutant Sex Demon, are the major Black Metal component of the music. Otherwise, GG Alin, Mentors and Anal Cunt are mentioned as some of the references, and if we add a bit of Motörhead, Carnivore and some of the groovier songs of Impaled Nazarene to it, we have exactly what Mutant Sex Demon stands for. In ‘Bloody Claws of Hatred’ there is also a whiff of what reminds me of Type O Negative, and quite frankly, it works gloriously. So yeah, with its 27 minutes of filthy punky Rock with a dash of Black Metal, ‘Cutting Through’ is deliciously infectious and another great record by the hand of Lord Warmoon.
