A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Hot on the heels of Ieschure’s ‘The Mystic Fields’ EP from early January of this year, Lilita Arndt treats us with yet another new release. This time it is the one-track EP (or single) ‘Evil Spirit’, which was released on cassette tape by Narbentage Produktionen in a limited edition of 66 copies.

Since it is only one track, the cassette tape has a short running time of only just under 7 minutes in total. Yet, within those 7 minutes Arndt shows us exactly what Ieschure stands for, she drags us along with her relentless hypnotic and spellbinding sort of riffing, sharp in tone and evil in spirit. The rest of the mesmerizing effect is accomplished by the stoically slow, staccato drumming and Arndt’s captivating vocals. This time she uses both a somewhat evil sort of groaning and angelic singing, which both leads to a schizophrenic ambiance. Compellingly beautiful and terrifying at the very same time.

With ‘Evil Spirit’, Lilita Arndt proves once again to have crafted a musical vessel that is truly unique in the regions of Black Metal. Since there was so little time between this cassette single and the previous EP, it is only to be hoped there will be more material out soon again.
