Gotthammer – Ancient Nature [EP]

gotthammer – ancient nature [ep]

Info

The godslaying sonic barbarians of Gotthammer return to the stage with their first EP, following a couple of demos and a split with Goatcorpse. And with ‘Ancient Nature’, the Canadians continue without remorse on their relentless, pummeling downtuned Black/Death/Grind crusade.

Eight songs in fourteen minutes with zero room for subtlety awaits for those deciding to pick up this EP on cassette, CD (both courtesy of Anti-Human Productions) or 7”EP (by Wolfkult Religion). With grinding guitars and furiously hammering drums, obviously the bestial barking vocals and mandatory whammy solos cannot be exluded from the mix. Keeping in tradition with the previous releases there’s a tiny bit of room for a crawling Doomy riff in ‘Unholy Blacksmithing’, however, the vast majority of the EP is pure blasting worship of Blasphemy, Sadomator, Beherit and similar filth. Compared to the previous recordings, don’t expect too much has changed. I guess the updated, less muffled sound of the EP would be the biggest difference. Not to worry though, it doesn’t affect the pure sonic violence at all. If anything, it allows a little bit more rooms for the riffs beneath the brutality to surface. That is, of course, all considering that essentially this is fourteen minutes of uncompromising Extreme Metal barbarity.

Whether it’s the furious ending of ‘Atomic Purification’, shifting madness of ‘Apocalyptic Warmaster’ or musical explosion within ‘Eternal Pyre of Triumph’, all songs of ‘Ancient Nature’ ensure an audial beating. And you’ll love every second of it.
