Fangs of Erebus – Infectus

fangs of erebus – infectus

Info

After the business card that was Demo “L” and the single track ‘I Wage War’, a full-length album by Fangs of Erebus from Thailand was already in the making. It is called ‘Infectus’, it was released on June 21st and contains 9 tracks.

The musical style, being high velocity Black/Death Metal has been preserved but the songs on the album have more depth. There’s more variety in the compositions themselves and each song now stands on its own whereas the tracks from the demo were, well … they felt like they could use something “more”.

For over 38 minutes, insanity rages on: the roaring bestial vocals sound like they’ve been fed with propane gas, the rhythm section, being a deep bass tone and Gatling gun fired drums provide a steady backbone to the music. Layers and layers of highly combustible guitar chords overwhelm the ears. Every instrument is where it belongs and was given a crisp and powerful production. Guitar solos are thrown around from the left to the right.

There are more Thrash influences in the songs and there are far more tempo changes than on the demo and this all adds to the quality of the music itself. Fangs of Erebus aren’t afraid to slow down (before picking up the pace again) which makes the music sound even more menacing and bleak.

Lyric wise, it’s about darkness, hatred, rage, violence and more darkness. Just listen to songs as ‘Thirst for Blood’, ‘Termination of Human Souls’ or ‘Into Tartarus’.

In short: it is a smoldering heap of brutality, this ‘Infectus’. Fans of the genre and into underground stuff really should check this one out. The limited album is available on CD and digital through Masters of Khaos Productions on Bandcamp at the moment.
