A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

If you’re in the market for a quick EP that packs a good amount of punch, may I direct your attention to the 2023 ‘Allegiance to the Infernal Lord’ EP by the one and only Primordial Serpent. Four tracks of the dark and furious Black Metal that has become well engrained in the Primordial Serpent sound by this point.

Overall, the EP is really solid. Though it’s nothing mind-blowing within the Primordial Serpent catalogue, it’s a nice hit of that good old Satanic Warmaster/ classic Gorgoroth vein of song writing that always hits the spot.  Each track is a traditional charge that leads into great melodic sections and solos that are not too flashy or over the top. The production is damn well done like most of the Primordial Serpent releases where it’s raw but not incoherent…medium rare if you will.  Everything sits nicely where it should be within the mix without being muddy or having a disturbing lack of low end.

What more can I say, it’s Primordial Serpent. At this point Geoff Coran’s discography is a grab bag of great stuff. You cannot go wrong with a dose of Primordial Serpent here and there.
