A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Info

With their previous CD ‘Reflections’ still fresh in my mind, I picked up the promo of this CD from Ewald Provoost (Master of Brutality zine). Now I’ve bought the CD itself. On the back it says “Centinex plays dark Swedish Death exclusively”. Well, they can leave out the “dark” as far as I’m concerned!

You just get a great slab of Death Metal with the necessary melody, but not as much melody as the Gothenburg scene. I think an analogy with Autumn Leaves is appropriate. Just like that band, Centinex remains brutal and melodic without losing the sharp edge. Get it?!

Anyway, you get 8 awesome tracks hurled at your head in about 41 minutes, including a very successful cover of Kreator’s ‘Under the Guillotine’. If you like, for example, Dismember but would like to hear a bit more melody, Centinex is the band you’re looking for.

What else do I need to say? I do notice that a lot of awesome Death or Grind CDs are coming out on Repulse Records lately.
