A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

After 4 full-length albums, Altar is releasing a 42 minute compilation with one new track, a Iron Maiden-cover, several live-tracks and their demo ‘And God Created Satan to Blame for His Mistakes’. First of all I would like to show my gratitude for releasing a compilation which last for 42 minutes for a mini-cd price. Labels and bands, this is an example for you all.

Let’s talk about Metal now! Altar has certainly changed throughout the years, developed a more mid-tempo Death/Thrash style and a bit more melodic, more Heavy Metal riffing. ‘I am your provider’ sounds good and shows a promising forthcoming album but don’t expect furious speeds or blast-beats like on their debut ‘Youth Against Christ’. It’s always nice to hear an Iron Maiden-cover and like the artwork, the song is ‘The Trooper’ and is performed in the typical Altar way. The live tracks are ‘Throne of Fire’ and ‘Psycho Damn’ and are, surprisingly, from their demo/debut album. Here you can hear the style change the best.

I already have the Altar demo on tape and call me immature, but this is the stuff I like best! Especially ‘Throne of Fire’! For the Altar-fans a nice surprise, releasing the sold out demo. And finally, there is a multimedia version of ‘god damn you’.

I wish Altar the best of luck with their forthcoming album as I consider them as a hard working band.
