A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Brazilian Black/Speed Metal merchants unleashed their second debut in 2021 entitled ‘Unholy Bond’, and Portuguese label Helldprod Records have put it out on a spectacular looking all black cassette. The demo itself offers up fairly standard Black/Speed Metal fare, and the title track is a nice short slice of fast paced riffs, simple drumming rhythms and sleazy, slightly Lemmy like vocal work. It’s during ‘In Crusade With Satan’ that Gravedäncer really show their chops in a track essentially dedicated to Heavy Metal forces uniting in their bullet belts, leathers and chains and going to war along side Satan. It’s a longer track, far catchier and laden with groove and thick rumbling bass play. Despite having an intense murky sound, the production is actually pretty good and the nostalgic 80’s atmosphere is created through excellent song writing and musicianship. For me though the track of the demo is easily ‘Feasting with the Dead’, an absolute belter of a heavy Metal track with great lyrics, a slower, nastier sound and a real toe tapper! If you like your metal old school, boozy and straight to the point, pick up ‘Unholy Bond’, a pure Black Metal meets Speed Metal meets Rock ‘n’ Roll rollercoaster! (Luke Hayhurst)
