Old Curse are an active Paraguayan Black/Death/Thrash Metal band from San Lorenzo (Central Department), formed in 2018, and currently signed to WolfKult Religion. They embody the classic South American extreme metal lineage, raw, violent, unpolished and steeped in the late‑80s Death/Thrash tradition, with clear echoes of Sarcófago, early Sepultura, Mortem (Peru), and the darker fringes of Sadistic Intent, Infernal Majesty and Morbid Angel.
The members are deeply tied to the Paraguayan underground, with connections to Avance, Grotesque Dismemberment, Occult Rites, Laran’s Daga, Eternal Blasphemy, and others.
‘Decayed Doctrine’ is Old Curse’s second EP, released in 2026 through WolfKult Religion, and it marks a clear leap in intensity, cohesion, and identity for the Paraguayan Death/Thrash outfit. There are 4 new tracks on the EP.
The ‘Decayed Doctrine’ EP is praised for its authentic late‑80s South American extremity, combining punch, violence, and a dark atmosphere. One can highlight the hoarse, reverb‑laden evil vocals, the rumbling bass, and the meaty, non‑overprocessed guitars.
