Unleashed through Purity Through Fire at the end of 2025, ‘Pestmond’is the debut EP for the band Seichknecht, a German Black metal legion of 4, and with Reverant from such bands as Order of Nosferat and Sarkrista on vocals, it was bound to be an interesting listen.

Whilst not shying away from a cleaner production than the music of Order of Nosferat, ‘Verbrannte Reigen’ opens up with this almost epic sounding guitar melody I can only compare with the more melodic and triumphant sections of Absurd and some French releases back in the 2000s, which soon unfurls to reveal some pretty nasty tremolo riffs and punishing drums.

The title track ‘Pestmond’ displays a sound not commonly played with. The track employs a Death metal style groove, not heard in many Black Metal tracks. It’s sound may be more suited to a Death metal band that focuses on rhythm rather than sounding “Evil” so to speak.

‘Pestmond’ has shown a promising and captivating first attack that will appeal to fans of bands like Absurd and Sale Freux, but with much cleaner production to those of the melodic releases of both. I will be on the lookout for the next Seichknecht release and so should fucking you!
