A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Info

Vonülfsrëich is a Finnish black metal duo from Oulu (Pohjois-Pohjanmaa), active since 2012. Their thematic focus blends occultism, misanthropy, and nature mysticism, and they have been associated with the labels No Fun House & Fallen Temple for parts of their career. The band consists of Yonülf & Fogg.Since their inception in 2012, they’ve released an impressive catalog of material.

‘Kvensgäldr’ is their 4th full-length up to date.

Music-wise their core is raw, riff-driven Black Metal with harsh vocals, but they often thread in elements of Punk, Thrash, and a touch of Death Metal, giving their records a jagged, kinetic energy that avoids getting boxed into a single subgenre. This 2024 record, ‘Kvensgäldr’, is described as their fourth and most expansive full-length to date. They even delve into Doom Metal to create heaviness.

Menacing riffs in the pure Darkthrone crust vein, The rawness of a Wulkanaz, early Impaled Nazarene or even old Armagedda. Hateful spewed out vocals. Shards of doom. Everything is grim and dark about this album and the overall atmosphere is suffocating and menacing.

‘Kvensgäldr’ is an unsettling monster of an album. People who have never heard of this band really need to do research.
