Since their blistering ‘World In Ruins’ album from 2020, Greek Isolert aren’t a stranger any more to the catacombs of VM-Underground. Their third album is called ‘Wounds of Desolation’ and it’s a real scorcher!
Just listen to the overt visceral and painfully drafted throat-wrenching vocals on ‘The End of Beauty’ or ‘Reflections of Nothingness’ and you’ll know what strong vocals mean.
Every riff, every power chord has been carefully orchestrated and placed in position. It’s Greek so it bears a sound of its own. Alternating between uptempo and slower pace, inserting melodie and rawer tremolo picking and always avoiding dead moments or boredom, every aspect of this album is nearly flawless. The listener gets an abundance of musical sensations shoved down his/her throat on this album. High standard Black Metal with a cornucopia of emotions, be it dark, bleak, savage, it’s all there. The sheer wall of sound alone is sufficient to blow you off your chair.
The band never loses track of what they’re doing, every time carrying you away in a haze of high quality Black Metal.
And I could write even more superlatives and high praises on each of the sublime 8 tracks of this album, fact remains that ‘Wounds of Desolation’ is a masterpiece of modern Black Metal and very highly recommended. You must check it out for yourself, I’m already convinced and a believer!
Savour the darkness.
