A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Info

Fragmentary Solid Abyss (often abbreviated FSA) is the brainchild of American multi-instrumentalist Ömer Doğramacı, who hails from the Bronx, New York. Launched in 2022 as a solo endeavor, it remained solely under Doğramacı’s control until 2025, when Andrey Mego officially joined the project in an as-yet unspecified role.

Ömer started out composing synthpop/electronic and around 2023 switched to atmospheric Black Metal, layering harsh guitars and blast beats beneath dense electronic atmospheres and even Dungeon Synth.

Recurring lyrical motifs include religion, war, madness, Satanism, occultism, darkness, death, pain, and tragedy.

‘Scroll of Creation / In the light of Creation’ is the EP from 2025 with bonus tracks from the ‘In The Light Of Creation’ EP, thus making it a full-length album.

Feral vocals in the true tradition of the genre emerge from a think swamp of razor wired guitars, thundering blast beats and a greasy bulldozer bass. Both the tracks from the 2 EP’s are merged into 2 long tracks. The percussion on this album is said be to quite original- expect no drum ‘n bass, but there are some unconventional house beat (?) patterns to be heard. Didn’t Unholy Vampyric Slaughter Sect use electronic and ambient experiments on his albums? Bludgeoning beats that kick you around like a rag doll amidst a scorching vortex of razor-sharp guitars and unspeakably screeching vocals. And where UVSS is raw Black Metal, Fragmentary Solid Abyss leans more into the atmospheric Black Metal catacombs. Still the music is as benign as a tumor.

The production is state of the art. A vortex where electronic music is fused with malicious Black Metal – why haven’t we heard of this project before? Just have a listen to it.
