From Bangladesh comes this five piece Death Metal band Chronicles. With ‘Chaos Cosmogony’ they present their second demo and third release in total (their first offering being an EP), it was released last year on cassette tape by the Portuguese Hellprod Records label.

The Death Metal on offer is rather straight-forward and not all too complex, yet played with a lot of energy and distinct Thrashing power. The six tracks (including intro and outro) do make for just over 15 minutes of a rather relentless beating. It definitely has its charm and the pure energy is something to admire and applaud, but if it drilled down to its musical core, ‘Chaos Cosmogony’ has not all too much to offer. Without wanting to talk it down or having the intention to be rude, the band is still basically just of high-school band level. I can well imagine that the resources to record a (Death Metal) demo in Bangladesh are more limited than what the average European or American band has to make do with, but objectively speaking, there is still a lot of work to be done here for Chronicles. But, please, above all, let me give them credit for not getting discouraged and to keep going, I’d love to hear their next demo too.
