Chaos Inception – Vengeance Evangel

chaos inception – vengeance evangel

Info

Chaos Inception’s latest album, ‘Vengeance Evangel,’ is exemplary of what Death Metal should sound like in 2025. No old-school trend-hopping here; instead we get an explosive dose of well-composed, technically-proficient Death Metal, reminiscent of bands like Morbid Angel, Nile, Krisiun, and others. This one is a bit different compared to the ‘The Abrogation’ and maybe slightly more accessible with fewer similarities to Angelcorpse.

Compositionally, this album presents some intriguing ideas in the riffs, with the band’s technical prowess on full display throughout. The rhythm section is also tighter than a gnat’s behind, with the lower registers adding an extra layer of sonic venom. Their tech-Death leanings are evident, and some parts even evoke tech-Death maestros Origin. While the arrangements are undoubtedly intricate, they never sacrifice depth or creativity.

A notable achievement of this album is its refreshingly distinct sound, setting it apart from most Death Metal acts. The production is clean and polished, consistent with their previous recordings. Tone is slightly less dark than its predecessor, with a more up-tempo approach. The album boasts a fresh, energetic sound, but ultimately, it’s the well-executed, hard-hitting Death Metal that truly shines. Riffs are wild and unpredictable, paired with frenetic solos and relentless, driving drums that propel the album forward from start to finish.

Remarkably, drummer Gary White, who played on the band’s previous two albums, has taken over vocal duties, bringing a slightly more raspy delivery reminiscent of Krisiun’s Alex Camargo. While his style isn’t vastly different from former vocalist Chris White, Gary’s voice adds a distinctive edge and the requisite aggression, elevating the album to new heights.

A fitting reference point for this band is their label mates Cambion from El Paso, Texas, as both bands share a penchant for energetic, technical Death Metal that leaves a trail of destruction in its wake. Chaos Inception boldly defies current trends, pushing boundaries with unapologetic ferocity. ‘Vengeance Evangel’ is a solid, addictive offering that proudly carries the torch for Death Metal in this day and age. Stand-out tracks: ‘Falsificator’, ‘Reckoning of the Blade’, ‘Empire of Prevarication’
