Beleghost – Where the Mountain Lies [EP]

beleghost – where the mountain lies [ep]

Info

It’s 2025, and this time the work knocking on our door paralyzes us with its cold, anachronistic sound, closer to that of 1995-1996.

The opening is crowned with the title ‘As the Time Flows So Does the River.’ This title, to me, suggests a visit to the abyss of melancholy and a whiff of existential redemption through long philosophical musings. Directly upon clicking what we find is a powerful opening with cold, hypnotic riffs, captivating in the tone more than adequate for the trip to the past, repetitive bars and voices evoking an awakening of that nostalgia for the ancient times of Black Metal, those times where ashes and fire impregnated the surrounding ether and the eyes of those who fearfully cried for the burned churches..

The theme continues its march on firm footing without fluctuating the rhythm until it dies in the arms of an instrumental that takes us into acoustic passages, when carefully viewing the art of the album you find an intimate connection with the music, between the first song and the instrumental 13 minutes have passed, which is almost half of the journey through the paths of Beleghost.

We have to take into account that the volumes begin to rise after these 13 minutes of the past, and the sequenced drums are evident in ‘Of Taurus and Capricorn,’ but in the title track, they once again dive into the depths of the mix, and an almost dead tone shines, signaling the close with mid-tempo marches alternating between speed, breaks, ambience, guitar announcements, and the march returns, consuming the seconds with a proud countenance.

The EP ‘Where The Mountain Lies’ is the creation of a single person, so it falls into that ‘One Man Band’ category, and I already hope its creator brings us another new release like this one in the future.
