A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Info

Being up to full battle strenght with founding member Tonny Brookhuis still on guitar next to Eric Daniels and my favorite (*) Asphyx frontman, Theo Loomans (R.I.P. sep 15th, 1998), the band recorded and released the “Crush The Cenotaph” demo in 1989. With 5000 copies sold and obviously even more copies tapetraded, this demo can easily be qualified as a landmark in the early Dutch underground death metal scene. Since my old cassette doesn’t sound that good anymore and the original production of the demo was nothing more than adequate, I’m glad all four classic songs have been re-recorded throughout the nineties. With it’s clean intro, dynamic build-up, speedy verse and chorus, closing song “Thoughts Of An Atheist” remains my favorite Asphyx song to this day.

(* sorry, for me Martin van Drunen will always have “Consuming Impulse”, printed on his forehead.)
