A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Info

I hope they’re not talking about their music, when looking at the band name. But after listening to Severe Torture’s debut demo, fortunately that’s not the case. Severe torture started out in 1997, and a year later their first release has already been recorded and released.

We’re dealing with Death Metal here. Fast and brutal Death Metal, with some mid-paced parts blended in and some cool speed changes. A lot of chopping battery, raging riffs and powerful bass work, all to be completed with a low gurgling grunt. If you think Suffocation meets Cannibal Corpse meets Deeds Of Flesh you’ll come a long way what kind of style this band plays. Especially the first two bands are clearly of their biggest influences.

The songs are written quite well, though the speedy parts could use some more variation at times.
Originality also isn’t one of the band’s strong points, but what they do, they do pretty well. Comes with a good sound and a printed color cover. Available on both cassette and cd.
