Venezuelan Black Metal; it’s a cliché to start with opening lines like “you don’t hear this every day” or “wow, Venezuela… how surprising!”, but you really don’t hear this every day.
The fourth full-length, ‘Martyrdom’, is steeped in oppressive and claustrophobic Black Metal, dominated by expansive, long-form compositions. If the oppressive atmosphere of both the Icelandic and French scenes appeals to you, and you enjoy the direction taken by Mgła, then this mid-tempo-leaning ‘Martyrdom’ might be worth a listen, though don’t expect a top-tier release of the genre.
