Spere – Eight – Led to the Beam

We often seek out the powers to transfigure a decadent soul into that which breeds strength, to be robust, where the scales of a tired mind are shed and in its place an aura which speaks of triumph and Herculean might is manifested. For the means to take that which is fractured and within the gaps infuse it with a primordial, ineffable spirit renders unto the soul an experience that is so potent, it reshapes the tongue of motion of both mind and art.

‘Eight – Led to the Beam’ by Spere calls upon the titanic spirit of Black Metal and from its ancient stream an elixir fashioned in sound is manifested. The very aura conjured by this entity calls to mind acts such as Primordial and Gallowbraid, for Spere in turn ushers the consciousness unto a path where fortitude is rediscovered and from its virulent sound, resilience is found.

Tracks such as ‘Kevalier’ and ‘Nawigator’ showcase the unison of these elements wherein the vocals and the instruments weave together to form a cloak that blankets the mind, a cloak that feels worn-in and weathered, but one where stories of monumental proportion are stained into its very fabric.

The well from whence this aura is drawn evokes a ‘Bathory-esque’ atmosphere, for the very dissonance that is manifested drenches the mind in a sacramental lake of fire, and from each note expelled, the spirit undergoes a catharsis. The percussion and strings which weave together in their workings accentuates the very topography of this imperial sound. However, the very motion of these elements becomes the vessel which ushers the soul onto a journey upon mountains carved from the hymns of a hero’s song.

This energy follows the entire architecture of the album, for the zenith can be discovered in the fusion of both the vocals which carry in it’s a candor both power and majestic might intertwined with the juxtaposition of harsh and calming melodies.For instance, the track ,  ‘Bearer’ can be seen as an example where the varying energies, from the spectrums of that which is calm to raging converge to form an offering that is undulating in its architecture of sound,yet vast in its energy wherein you feel and react to every resonance that is exhaled from each notes.

The sounds of Spere’s ‘Eight – Led to the Beam’ becomes the raging river in sound whose might breaks upon the flesh, cleansing the mind and rejuvenating the soul for within its harshness and adamantine sound, the body is baptised in these currents and when the brine of a waned spirit recedes into nothingness all that remains is a crown of triumph jeweled with the flame of incendiary will and forged glory.
