Info

For those who have been checking VM-Underground for a while, will probably know we’ve been following Sentient Horror back in the day when Matt Moliti called his musical vessel Sentience.

10 Years later I’m dealing with the 4th full-length of the band that is from Stockholm. New Jersey, not Sweden. Still, the Swedish influence is unmistakably there. That, and Carcass but not the Grind-era.

Molti takes his Bill Steer / Michael Amott meets early Arch Enemy mixed with Carcass, with an emphasis on the latter. The band also throws occasional Vomitory skullcrushing fast pounding passages (like on ‘Undead Mutation’ or ‘The Tombcrusher’) in it all. But it’s not like I’m bringing you some breaking news, as a track like ‘Host of Worms’ of their debut album ‘Ungodly Forms’ already had the Steer/Amott spirit all over it.

Thus, ‘In Service of the Dead’ is a worthy follow-up of ‘Rites of Gore’ and fans of Sentient Horror will devour this album beyond a shadow of a doubt.
