Canadian Black Metal often earns my approval, and knowing that Oriflamme hails from Quebec, there is already a certain level of expectation.
In terms of music, it delivers without a doubt; the combination of intensity and atmosphere is a staple of that scene and Sepulchral Productions. The uptempo tremolo riffs that act as a constant on ‘L’égide ardente’, never grow dull, and there is enough variety to keep the lengthy tracks interesting, including some slower, dragging sections.
This is a commendable debut, and should you find the output of Sepulchral Productions and the Quebec scene intriguing, it is certainly worth your time.
