A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

I wasn`t familiar with both of`em, Óreiða from Iceland and Holocausto Em Chamas from Portugal, who teamed up for a split release through Harvest Of Death. Óreiða offer us one track with a length of nearly 10 minutes. A really repetitive, cold Black Metal track with melodic leads and a continuing onslaught of drumbeast with just little variation. Sometimes it`s only vocals and a sinister melody, reminding me of some Leviathan or Striborg material. Holocausto Em Chamas on their side bring us 3 sonic terror songs of real raw Black Metal. This low-fi productions have more in common with LLN bands, musical wise in similar fields with less melody and more Scandinavian roughness, which means a more primitive approach in drum patterns and riffs. The atmosphere they create is dark, cold and medieval and the singer sounds like a maniac. A good change, and something I recommend for the raw-liking Black Metal legions out there. (DPF)
