A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Malfeitor is the brainchild of M. Fabban who has been a member of the industrialized black metal band Aborym for many years. Aborym changed quite a bit over the years, from a very dark industrial with some black metal undertone to a more serious black metal band with a slight industrial hint. Yet, this still wasn’t enough for Mr. M. Fabban and he founded Malfeitor to get even deeper in pitch black metal.

A bit more primitive and with a lot more hooky riffs Malfeitor swings itself through black metal that is not very different from bands like Dark Funeral, Setherial, Enthroned and such with an ever present Aborym feeling. Its very safe to say that this is far from original and not very exciting yet a song like “In This Place Forever” prevents this album from being ditched on the big grey masses of meaningless releases. This is a bit more mid-paced and with nicely arranged haunting riffs that fits perfectly with the ongoing trend in black metal. The folky parts halfway the album are a big flop.

A bit of a dull album that never gets beyond average and gets the black blood flowing, instead, M. Fabban should go and record a new Aborym album as “Generator” really needs a follow-up…
