A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Fort Worth in Texas is the home to Black Metal duo Disruption who have just unleashed a supremely enjoyable debut EP entitled simply ‘Opus 1’. What really makes this EP stand out is the vocals, which whilst they offer up powerful yet standard rasping evil sounding fare, leave the lyrics perfectly audible, and this is a clinching factor for me as the bands lyrics are seriously engaging. That isn’t all that Disruption have going for them though, as their simple guitar leads backed up by some very sturdy drum tones are incredibly fluent and catchy to listen to. Also, the intro to opening track ‘Necrosophic Fantasy’ is so bass laden it sounds like it was created using a cello. What I truly like the most though about Disruption is that they don’t try to reinvent the wheel, and instead focus on writing captivating Black Metal with a hint of Death Metal influence. So through intoxicating bouts of tremolo picking to ravaging melodic guitar leads, powerful vocals and pummelling blast beats, ‘Opus 1’ is simply out a crackling listening experience that will beg for repeated listens.
