Info

This band named Cloak is based in Atlanta, Georgia and is not to be confused with a band with a similar name from San Francisco, California. Cloak themselves have named Dissection, Fields of Nephilim and Deep Purple as their main influences and I think that´s on point because they play a perfect Black/Doom/Rock mix.

In contrast to their previous album this one a lot more gothic elements in it. But there are still groovy and catchy parts and their music is still harsh. Cloak sometimes reminds me of Satyricon in their groovy moments. “Tempter’s call” with its Iron Maiden inspired introduction shows the many aspects of their song writing. Nordic-sounding tremolo riffs and killer leads combined with energetic and aggressive drums and underlined with a glorious bass lead through this album. Piano intros and fills give the listener a little break without getting bored.

This marriage of Black Metal and Black ‘n ‘roll makes very much fun to listen and maybe get up and dance to. (HaCeBo)
